Mass Immigrations And A Break-in

Image
We can’t believe we’re at the end of April! We travel stateside, with permission, on May 8th and return on May 19th for family needs. We have extended our mission until June of 2025 for any who have not heard. We have been busy with medical appointments, payments, and last week, in three trips, Rich took twenty-two missionaries to Migraciones to pick up their Carnés de Extranjeria. (The card that gives them permission to live here in Perú.) The Zone Conferences this week were powerful. What a blessing and privilege to be taught by the President of the South America Northwest Area, Elder Jorge Zeballos and his wife Hermana Carmen Zeballos. Also, President and Hermana Plumb. How we love them and our missionaries. We are truly grateful to be here.  After one of our days of conference, Rich got a panicked call from our other senior missionary. Avergonzados But Back in the Blog Saddle, We Hope

The kids arrival in Lima It has been so long that I suppose some might have thought we gave up and went home. Far from it. We have extended our mission to coincide with our mission president's termination. We will now return home at the end of June, 2025. We made it to the critical sites around Cusco and then went to Machu Picchu. Our trip there was eventful. This is the end of the rainy season and that poses challenges. The night before we left for Machu Picchu i

We are sorry to be so inconsistent with our blog.We have experienced a pretty amazing few weeks that have included celebrations for Christmas with the missionaries and attending a large interfaith chorus concert sponsored by the church. It is part of the Light the World initiative.  Our area president spoke, as did the archbishop of Lima and the pastor of the Orthodox church gave the opening prayer. An interfaith choir sang the Messiah and it was remarkably well attended. The Church News carried a report of the concert and gathering. We had two mission multi-zone Christmas conferences. We brought the zones together and participated in a white elephant gift exchange. It helps, but Christmas in Lima is just hard. We stay in contact with the missionaries and take a lot of health calls.  We also joined with the other senio
